New York officials are “keeping to their timeline like a Swiss watch” according to Nicholas Vita, a founder of Columbia Care and one of five setting up dispensaries in the Empire state.

It seems that news regarding New York’s medical policy only makes headlines when its negative. It’s a refreshing change to hear that everything is running according to plan.

New York doctors will be required to take a 4 hour course before “recommending” medical cannabis, since prescribing it will not be permitted. This recommendation can then be taken to the state for approval.

Is it the world’s best medical marijuana program? No. Is it a huge stepping stone in the right direction? Absolutely. We are creaking the door open in New York state, which will undoubtedly lead to opening the floodgates in a few short years.
