In June, the U.S. Justice Department authorized a venture where small Native American tribes of 400 or less could sell and grow pot in order to raise funds for community services.
Lo and behold, the marijuana resort is born!
This creative escape, which is being developed by the Santee Sioux tribe in South Dakota, will feature a nightclub, arcade games, a bar, and a smoking lounge where visitors can choose from as many as 30 strains of cannabis, tribal President Anthony Reider said.
“We want it to be an adult playground,” said Reider. “There’s nowhere else in America that has something like this.”
The resort is expected to make about $2 million profit each month. They’re hoping to be open by New Year’s Eve.
For a community that has struggled to financially back community services such as housing, childcare, and medical programs, the June ruling couldn’t have come fast enough!
This story proves that, like any industry, the cannabis business rewards innovation.
